Stine Jespersen (b. 1976). Trained at the Royal College of Art, London, 2003-2005, and at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, 2002-2003. She has recived an aword from the Danish Art Foundation, for the exhibition *Infrastructure’, 2020. Stine Jespersens makes sculptural ceramics where she explore the possibilities of clay through repetition. In a search for balance between the static and the uncontrollable, the same elements or modules are repeated and combined in different ways with small changes or variations that occur both naturally and in a controlled process. Her wish is to involve the viewer in a search for similarities and differences by creating works where one can constantly explore. To maintain interest while challenging the understanding of the material. My work with repetition is also a reflection on the inevitable repetitions in human life. But in the repetition I also see an inevitable variation - and a development. It is the one I try to communicate in my works.
